Bourbon & Beads

My lovely girlfriends Chris, Heather and Eva came over this Sunday. We made jewelry (yes, all those boxes are Chris's amazing bead collection) and sipped Mint Juleps. It was a great Sunday afternoon.

Some of our creations might show up in Chris's Etsy store.

Making good choices

This guy and his wife at costco kept staring at my basket and talking amongst themselves. I was getting a little bit annoyed when suddenly the guy turns to me and says: "all your purchases look really healthy" to which I replied: "What can I say, I make good choices"

Fan-back Windsor Armchairs

I got three of these Fan-back Windsor Armchairs at a consignment store.

Each one of the chairs has this shield burned into. I am not sure how old they are but that company has been in business since 1762.

"Open Botanica" in Queens, New York

Can't decide between a religious or an accessory store? How about both!

Audacious rescue deals Farc a blow

AP- Reuters- Colprensa

Ingrid Betancourt--Colombian presidential candidate who had been kidnapped for more than 6 years--and 14 other hostages were rescued without a shot being fired after FARC rebels holding them were tricked by undercover Colombian army forces into handing them over.

Needless to say this is great news for my country. I hope the rest of the hostages are freed soon.

My lovely friend Chris came over for lunch a couple of days ago.

We had marinated grilled tofu on a bed of spinach, smashed avocado, and roasted sweet potatoes with olives and rosemary. Yum!

Let there be lamps

I got a pair of these at the Hudson's Estate Liquidation
Warehouse Sale last weekend for 10 dollars.
After rewiring them and buying new shades,
they now sit happily on my night tables.

Cut-out portrait

Colin made this portrait of me at "Bad Art Night"
while I was working on my "Pompeii Burns Diorama".
Looks pretty good to me, I think he is unable to make bad art :)
